Sharon Slater

Sharon Slater is an award-winning historian, receiving the National Heritage Hero award for 2017 and a Mayoral reception in 2018.

She has delivered heritage/cultural projects for groups including National Heritage Council, Limerick Chamber, Limerick Archives, Limerick Museum, Mary Immaculate College, The History Press, and Fáilte Ireland.

Her website Limerick’s Life has been focused on the development of the history of Limerick city since 2004.

Alan English

Alan English is the editor of the Sunday Independent.

Alan English was born in Limerick in 1965, two years after the All Blacks made their first appearance at Thomond Park. He began his career at the Limerick Leader and is now deputy sports editor of the Sunday Times. In 1999, he edited the bestselling Sunday Times Sporting Century. He lives in London with his wife and three children

Pádraig Lenihan

Lenihan’s research interest has been primarily in military history in the long seventeenth century c.1590-c.1735, taking the broad view of military history to include demographic impact, epidemic disease, literary/iconographic representations as well as military strategy and tactics.

Robert Collins

Dr Robert Collins works in the Department of History at the University of Limerick.
A Limerick/Clare native, Robert published his first book titled Noraid and the Northern Ireland Troubles, 1970-1994 with Four Courts Press in 2022 and continues to publish on the important historical role of the Irish American community, particularly in the twentieth century.

Siobhán Doyle

Siobhán Doyle is Curator in the National Museum of Ireland and holds a PhD in Museum Studies from Technological University Dublin. Siobhán’s first book, A History of the GAA in 100 Objects, was published by Merrion Press in 2022.
It was nominated for Sportsbook of the Year in the An Post Irish Book Awards and has since been developed in a multi-media exhibition in the National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks.

Ruan O’Donnell

Originally from Dublin, O’Donnell received a BA and MA (Major Thesis) from UCD and a PhD from the Australian National University. He has lived and worked in Limerick since 1998, is a full member of the National Union of Journalists (Freelance Branch, Dublin), is a Director of the Irish Manuscripts Commission and was appointed to the Universities Ireland Decade of Commemoration Committee.

Jane Ohlmeyer

Ohlmeyer is an Erasmus Smith’s Professor of Modern History (1762) at Trinity College Dublin and Chair of the Irish Research Council.

Born in Kitwe in Zambia, she grew up in Belfast during the Troubles before going to Scotland to study History, but it was at Trinity that she found my home. After completing her PhD in History she taught at the University of California at Santa Barbara, at Yale, and at the University of Aberdeen. In 2003 she returned to Trinity as the Erasmus Smith’s Professor of History (1762).
